Saintfield first team travelled to clarendon to play Woodvale in a reverse of last weeks fixture which the saints won 3-1.
The home side started with a lot of intensity, no doubt motivated by last weeks result, and this pressure and a vocal home support disrupted a number of the young Saints passing game. However, after weathering the early pressure Saintfield grew into the game and it was a disappointing combination of errors that allowed a counter attack from which Woodvale scored midway through the half. Saintfield responded well and Ethan Barr missed an opportunity for a deserved equaliser when he miscued his finish when through on goal.
The remainder of the game was a cagey affair with the home side visibly tiring and having made all 3 subs they looked to manage the clock and disrupt the flow of the game.
Saintfield were dominating possession and sensed a goal could lead to a win however two defensive mistakes allowed Woodvale opportunities to increase their lead which they took. Saintfield continued to press but in truth lacked a cutting edge inside the 18 yard box to capitalise on their approach play.
Saintfield came away with a sense of points dropped but plenty of positives to take into two further away fixtures against Tullycarnet and Holywood.
