Saturday saw the swifts look to bounce back after a difficult game against the league leaders the week before. This week they came up against a very good Celtic Bhoys team who are also challenging near the top, having only lost the one game so far. The game started at a frantic pace and allowed little time to breathe for either team. Unfortunately for the Swifts it was the Bhoys who struck first as the ball was floated to the back post and headed in after an initial corner was cleared. There were few chances for either side in the first half but it was the bhoys who took their chances better and went into the half 1-0 up.
The second half saw a more open game which did not help the Swifts. A more open game saw Celtic Bhoys score twice in the first 10 minutes of the second half but this did not deter the Saints as they continued to create opportunities. It was on the hour mark that the Swifts stuck the back of the net for the first time. Wonderful build up play from Philip Alexander who played it into the feet of Josh McMullan who glided past the Bhoys defenders before finishing calmly past the keeper. The Swifts huffed and puffed for the last half hour but the experienced heads of the Celtic players saw the game out.
