Saintfield 3rd XI entertained Strangford who are challenging for promotion. The visitors started well forcing the Saints back. The host’s gradually worked their way into the game but went behind after 20 minutes. Possession was given away cheaply and a free kick awarded when a foul was committed in an attempt to win it back, the free kick was poorly defended and the striker headed past Young. Strangford went further ahead. Centre back Young thought he had more time than he actually had and when he was robbed of possession the attacker rounded the keeper to slot home.
The Saints best chance came when Ross headed wide at the back post from a Gallagher cross.
The home side got back in the game 5 minutes after the restart. A Gallagher through ball found Sheeran and his cross was deflected past the keeper.
Although the hosts had an equal share of possession apart from a Sheeran shot they rarely looked like scoring.
Strangford got a third with 15 minutes left to seal the points.the Saints worked hard but were beaten by the better team on the day with McEvoy the best performer for the home side.
