With both these teams at the wrong end of the table it was likely to be a tight encounter and that’s how it turned out.
Although there were no goals there was no lack of adventure but both sides had difficulty converting their chances.
There was a mixture of youth and experience with Mcavoy and Gormley in the home squad and King and Young starting for the visitors.
With several players unavailable there were more youngsters that usual in the visiting squad with 5 16 year olds including Ben Hopkins and Matthew Johnson from the youth section making their debuts in adult football. All 5 acquitted themselves well.
The saints were dealt a blow when Aaron young was injured after 10 minutes and had to be replaced.
Drumaness started strongly and keeper Young was called into action on several occasions but gradually the visitors got into the game with Bookless having a chance after 20 minutes. Hopkins was causing problems with his pace on the right side and his run and cross set up a chance for Barr which he put wide.
The second half was much the same with the physically stronger home team having more of the play but not creating clear cut chances. The Saints defence with Matt Boyle playing well as an emergency centre back worked really hard to keep their clean sheet.
The Saints were dangerous on the breakaway and substitute Jamie Bishop had their best chance at the back post from a Barr cross but shot into the side netting.
A hard earned point for the Saints who were best served by goalkeeper Young, veteran King in midfield and Boyle in defence.
